Premogovnik Velenje could not become one of the most modern and most effective coal mines in Europe if it was not for long-term systematic investments in human resources and knowledge.

We are one of Slovenia’s learning organizations, which have a strategic approach to education.

By educating and training our employees we support the company’s strategic goals: rationalization of the coal mining process, safety at work, protection of the environment and development of new activities, as well as our numerous projects.

We plan our educational activities with great care. The need for education is determined on the basis of interviews with heads of departments, education programme catalogues, current projects, requirements in the production process and the current situation. In addition to expertise, our employees have a chance to receive training in health and safety at work, environmental responsibility, leadership, communication, motivation, economics, IT systems, foreign languages, etc.

We actively promote occupations which are interesting for our company. For all our new employees, most of whom are our scholarship recipients, we devised a system comprising internship, apprenticeship and mandatory practical training. In order to have highly qualified young associates, we provide training in our School of business skills. In line with strategic requirements of the company, we also help finance part-time studies.
